Qld: Morcombes refuse to give up on Daniel

BRISBANE, Dec 7 AAP - The father of missing teenager Daniel Morcombe says his family
cannot move on until they know the 13-year-old's fate.

Today is the third anniversary of Daniel's disappearance.

He was last seen waiting at a bus stop near his family home in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Police believe he was abducted and murdered.

In a statement released this morning, Bruce Morcombe said the family would never allow
Daniel's disappearance to become a cold case.

"Try as you may to move on, you cannot because we must find the answers," he said.

"Daniel should have been enjoying schoolies, learning to drive and buying a car like
other kids his age."

Mr Morcombe appealed for those responsible for his son's disappearance to come forward.

"We again appeal to the person responsible, or to those who know something, to do the
right thing, to take some responsibility for your actions and to tell us where we can
find Daniel."

Daniel's mother Denise said it had been painful to watch her son's school mates grow
up and finish high school.

"It has been an excruciating three years watching Daniel's brothers and friends grow
into adults," she said.

"We have been unjustly robbed of our son's teenage years and we will face many more
hurdles in the future."

North Coast Regional Crime Coordinator, Detective Inspector John Maloney said police
would not give up on the case.

He said investigating officers had accumulated a "massive" amount of information and
intelligence on the case.

"I want to make it clear we will not be stopping this investigation and the team working
this case are as determined today as they were three years ago," Det Insp Maloney said.

"Daniel's case has and will continue to be vigilantly investigated. The response from
the public has been unprecedented and that, combined with the tireless work of police,
will help us find those responsible."
