QLD: Police say house fire suspicious

BRISBANE, Dec 7 AAP - Police say they are treating as suspicious a fire that destroyed
a three-story beachfront mansion on the Gold Coast.

A lightning strike was originally thought to be the cause of the blaze at Mermaid Beach.

No one was home when the fire broke out in Albatross Avenue about 9pm (AEST) on Saturday.

It took five fire crews about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
