Fed: Hanson fighting fund relaunched for appeal
CANBERRA, Aug 22 AAP - A penniless One Nation Party is relaunching the Pauline Hansonfighting fund to help pay for her appeal.
Hanson's lawyers late yesterday lodged an appeal against her conviction and three-yearjail term for electoral fraud.
One Nation's federal treasurer Ian Nelson said the party was broke after paying forHanson's legal fees.
"We're penniless now that we've had to pay legal fees for four, five, six years, we'veactually got no money left, it's all been spent on lawyers," Mr Nelson told ABC radio.
"We were trying to figure out a way to address the coming appeal and this is just basicallythe people have done it for us."
Mr Nelson said One Nation's offices in Ipswich had been swamped by thousands of callersseeking to help and donate money.
One Nation had sought financial advice and Mr Nelson and a party director would overseethe relaunched fighting fund to ensure it was administered correctly.
"We've simply got the Pauline Hanson fighting fund going again," Mr Nelson said.
