Qld; Judge dismisses prisoners DNA avoidance bid
A Supreme Court judge has dismissed a bid by four Queensland prisoners to avoid compulsory
DNA testing.
Justice MARGARET WILSON dismissed the prisoners' application on Friday.
But -- after an application for an appeal by one of the prisoners -- she also ruled
that there should be no sampling of their DNA before 4 pm tomorrow (Monday).
The prisoners -- GEOFF BROGDEN, PAUL BARTON, BRETT EASTWELL and KEVIN CONNELL -- are
convicted of minor offences.
They argue that because they were convicted in a magistrates' court, the police service
has no right to force them to have DNA testing.
